What is energy?
Energy is in everything we do. Making a jump shot, baking cookies, turning on a light, and sending astronauts into space all take energy.
There are two kinds of energy:
1. Stored Energy, which is also called potential energy. The food you eat is a type of stored or potential energy. When you eat, your body stores the energy contained in food until you use it when you run, jump, play or do all those chores your parents make you do.
2. Working energy, which is also called kinetic energy. On the other hand, when you are running, jumping and playing you have kinetic energy. So, the faster you run, the more kinetic energy you have. The same is true for molecules, atoms and waves of sound and light.
